The Gardens Dementia Unit
The philosophy of the dementia special care unit at The Gardens in
Chestnut Hill is to meet the individual needs of people living with
Alzheimer's or related diseases. We strive to provide a home like
environment in which residents can participate in daily living
activities at their highest level of functioning. Residents are
encouraged to take part in meaningful and appropriate activities
through which they can feel pleasure and experience success.
The dementia unit provides space that is secure, comforting and
non-threatening. It offers a familiar frame of reference,
reduces confusion and offers freedom to move about in an
unrestricted space. Within the Alzheimer's unit, highly
trained staff creates specific programs that promote each patient’s
capabilities fully, and minimize those stresses that can aggravate
the symptoms of dementia and Alzheimer's.
